Voltrun is a leading brand in Turkey’s electric vehicle ecosystem, specializing in the installation and operation of EV charging stations. As electric mobility gains momentum, Voltrun serves both individual users and corporate fleets with accessible, reliable charging solutions. Central to this experience is the Voltrun mobile app, which acts as a key interface between users and charging infrastructure-providing location discovery, session tracking, payment, and real-time status updates. In line with evolving user expectations and growing network complexity, Voltrun set out to modernize and improve its mobile app experience.
Summary
We led the complete redesign of the Voltrun App with a focus on enhancing usability, performance, and visual clarity for EV drivers. The renewed app includes a more intuitive interface, streamlined user flows for locating and activating charging points, and clearer real-time information about charger availability and pricing. Design elements were aligned with Voltrun’s brand identity while also incorporating modern UI/UX standards to appeal to both new EV adopters and experienced users. The update also involved mobile-optimized visual systems and improved accessibility features to support broader usage across demographics.
Challenge
The main challenge was to transform a technically dense, utility-driven platform into an experience that feels smooth, smart, and user-friendly-without compromising the functional depth required for electric vehicle users. We had to rethink navigation logic, reduce friction in key tasks (like starting a charge or making a payment), and ensure that the system could handle future scalability. Another key priority was aligning the UI with the expectations of a tech-savvy audience, while still remaining approachable for users less familiar with EV ecosystems.
Solutions
We approached the redesign with a human-centered UX process, starting with identifying pain points in the original user flow. The interface was rebuilt to prioritize core tasks with minimal taps: find a station, check its status, start charging. Visual hierarchy was optimized for quick decision-making—integrating map views, charger types, and availability data seamlessly. We also created a modular design system, allowing the app to evolve with future services like loyalty programs or fleet management features. The result is a high-performance, user-focused mobile app that strengthens Voltrun’s position in the fast-growing EV charging market.
